Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi in a message condemned the explosions in a Roman Catholic cathedral in southern Philippines on Sunday.
The incident killed several people and left dozens wounded.
In the message, Qasemi also wished for the swift recovery of those who suffered injuries in the blast.
The foreign ministry spokesman further stressed that resorting to violence which claims lives of innocent people was as 'heinous' and 'deplorable' act wherever it happens.
Qasemi went on to extend his condolences with the bereaved families of the victims.
According to media reports, two suspected improvised explosive devices detonated in intervals at the Jolo Catholic cathedral in the Mindanao region, killing 27 people and leaving 27 others wounded.
