Iran's enemies not to reach their goals: Pres. Rouhani
The vicious dreams of Iran's enemies have not, and definitely, will not come true in the future, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday.
'Our enemies wanted this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2018) to be the year of Iran's defeat and their own victory, but the great people of Iran resisted against the enemies' pressure throughout all the difficult situation,' Hassan Rouhani said referring to the sanctions that Washington imposed on Iran after unilaterally withdrawing from the nuclear deal in May.
The sanctions were implemented in August and were intensified in November.
Addressing a large number of people in the northern city of Lahijan, the president also said that 'the enemies' wanted to make Iran the first violator of the deal that was signed in 2015 by Tehran and the five permanent members of UN Security Council plus Germany.'
'But they failed in reaching the goal,' Rouhani said.
He also praised the 'great victories' the Iranian people gained from the beginning of this Persian year.
Iranian people managed to neutralize the enemies' plots through resistance, President Rouhani said, admitting the hardships that were imposed on the people.
President Rouhani is in the northern Iranian Province of Gilan to inaugurate a railway project that connects the provincial capital Rasht to the national railway network.
