Cleric urges using nat'l capacities to resolve problems
Senior Iranian cleric on Friday called for using national capacities to resolve economic problems in the country.
The Iranian nation has trust in God and should not worry about the enemies' sanctions, Tehran's Provisional Friday Prayers Leader Hojjatoleslam Kazem Seddiqi said in the second sermon of his Friday prayers speech.
The cleric advised those officials who are optimistic about the West policies and urged them to change their mind, noting that they (Western states) are the people who prevented dispatch of humanitarian aids to the flood-effected people in Iran.
He criticized the European countries for not helping Iran after the US withdrawal from the nuclear deal.
The cleric referred to the US measure to list Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) a terrorist and said that this decision is the result of the US officials' stupidity and viciousness.
The United States officially designated Iran’s IRGC as a foreign terrorist organization, according to a notice published in the US Federal Register on April, Reuters reported.
US President Donald Trump said afterwards he would make the symbolic, but unprecedented move which was immediately condemned by Iran. Majority of politicians from all sides of the Iranian political spectrum rallied in support of the IRGC in a bid to show their support. Also, the Iranian lawmakers, wearing the IRGC’s olive green uniforms, attended the parliament.
The Iranian press also opened their front pages with the news and reactions to the move. The reformist Etemad’s page one title read 'I’m a guard' in a clear bipartisan support for the forces.
The IRGC expressed its gratitude for the show of support, promising 'a reciprocal response to the enemies, especially the rogue and terrorist-producing government of the US'.
The latest anti-Iran move of Trump received fierce reactions from the Iranian officials. The country's Foreign Minister Javad Zarif in a letter to President Hassan Rouhani called for a retaliatory move by labeling the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) as a terrorist organization and the US government as a sponsor of terrorism.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed to Iran's power and said that Iran ensured security in two regional countries and challenged the US power and restricted its sphere of influence and would continue this approach.
