The chief commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has warned Saudi Arabia and the UAE that they could face retaliatory measures for supporting terrorists on behalf of the US and Zionist entity.
General Mohammad Ali Jafari on Saturday stressed that Iran would give a “decisive” response to a Wednesday terrorist attack which killed 27 IRGC border guards in the southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province.
“The patience that the establishment once exercised against conspiracies and reactionary regimes in the region, especially Saudi Arabia and the UAE which carry out these acts on orders from the US and the Zionist regime, will be different and we will definitely take reparative measures,” he said.
On Wednesday, an explosives-laden car rammed into a bus carrying the IRGC personnel on a road between the cities of Zahedan and Khash, leaving 27 of them dead and 13 others wounded.
The so-called Jaish ul-Adl terrorist group, which is linked to al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the bombing.
Jafari said, “The enemies must be sure that the comrades of these martyrs and all those who have made covenants with the people to establish security, are even more determined to defend them and deal a yet stronger blow to the enemies.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, the IRGC commander denounced Pakistan’s support for terrorists who wage terror attacks in Iran, calling on Islamabad to change its policy toward Jaish ul-Adl.
“The Pakistani government which has sheltered these counter-revolutionary elements dangerous to Islam and knows their hideout – they are supported by Pakistani security forces – should be responsible for this crime,” he said.
“If Pakistan does not punish them, we will definitely take reparative measures against this counter-revolutionary force in the near future, and the Pakistani government will have to bear the consequences of its support for the group,” Jafari added.
